Designer Notes:
My clients moved to the area from Washington. They wanted a countertop that looked like marble, but they also wanted one that was more durable and easier to maintain. I knew that quartz was what they were searching for and when I showed them Calacatta Classic, they instantly fell in love with it. The biggest design challenge was the size of the kitchen island. Because they had a very large island, we needed to use two slabs with a seam in it. It was a challenge for our fabricators to perfectly line up the pronounced veins, but with our top of the line technology and experience, they were able to flawlessly join the slabs together. This precision allowed the veining to flow together and appear to be one slab- the seam was undetectable! They were thrilled with the look and feel that they wanted in the countertops, as well as the beautiful new cabinets with clean lines.

Design Spotlight: White Cabinets with Blue Pearl Granite
Designer Notes:
The client wanted to remodel the kitchen for his elderly mother and for selling the home in the future. The client originally wanted to use a blueish gray granite for the countertops. This granite color would have been a beautiful contrast to the white, but it would have stamped a color scheme that couldn’t be changed. I explained that for future resale purposes, he may want to go with a granite color like Blue Pearl that would be more universally appealing. Anytime you are updating your countertops for resale purposes, it is important to remember that you want the potential buyer to be able to envision your home as their own. He understood my concerns and agreed with my recommendations. The client was very happy with the end result. In fact, he was so satisfied that he has already contacted me to help him with another project! -Kim Hildebrand
