Designer Notes:
My clients, in Hephzibah, GA, wanted new granite countertops for 3 rooms in their home. He is very handy and has been doing a lot of the work himself. He was very knowledgeable about the process of fabricating and installing granite countertops. We looked at all the rooms and they asked about my ideas and thoughts about what color granite would look best in each room. I suggested a neutral color, Verona for the master bath because it smoothly tied together the colors of the mosaic tile flooring, cabinets, and the wall paint.
Since he is also an avid Atlanta Falcons fan, his man-cave is dedicated to his team, with everything simply being black and red. The obvious choice that we all agreed upon was Black Titanium Leathered granite to go with the white cabinets. The rugged and manly granite was perfect for this room.
In the kitchen, they wanted a different and unique granite with lots of movement. Autumn Leaf granite was the perfect choice! This granite has lots of movement, but doesn’t take away for the beauty of cabinetry; it actually brings out the colors and richness of the wood. The kitchen had an odd shaped island that they wanted me to re-design, but to also be able to sit several people around it. I drew out the island design for them with the exact specifications that they wanted and they were thrilled with the design, even commenting that it was exactly what they had envisioned. -Kim Hildebrand
